I used to feel like I had to wear a different outfit every day, but I eventually realized how much money I was wasting on clothes that I only wore a handful of times. This year, I've saved a ton of money on clothing by shopping less, wearing the clothes I already own more often, and, if buying new, focusing on timeless staples for my wardrobe.

If you're looking to save some money and simplify things, I highly recommend building a minimalist wardrobe. And if you're curious, I'd love to show you my 3 favorite work outfits that I put together using my Oliver Charles yak wool sweater!

Oliver Charles - Why Build a Minimalist Wardrobe?

Why Build a Minimalist Wardrobe?

Building a minimalist wardrobe benefits you and the planet. But what is a minimalist wardrobe?

A minimalist wardrobe is a collection of clothes that can be mixed and matched into multiple different outfits. The goal is to buy only a few high quality pieces that pair well with each other.

You also save money with a minimalist wardrobe. Social ads are hard to resist when the clothes look so cute for such a low price! However, all that shines isn’t gold. A surprisingly low price normally indicates cheap quality too.

These pieces fall apart within a year or two and often don’t have the most flattering fit either. When you spend more on quality pieces, you end up saving money over time.

Getting dressed is easy and intuitive with a minimalist wardrobe. Just because you’re downsizing your closet doesn’t mean you have to be less creative with your clothes! I discovered my personal uniform during this process.

I gravitate toward darker colors like black, auburn, and dark green. I also prefer gold jewelry since it matches my skin tone. That’s why I chose the charcoal All-Season Sweater since it fits my personal uniform and other clothes already in my closet.

Oliver Charles - Tips For Creating a Minimalist Wardrobe

Tips For Creating a Minimalist Wardrobe

Have you thought about starting a minimalist wardrobe? It's a great way to simplify your closet and make getting dressed in the morning easier.

One way to start is by going through your clothes and identifying the pieces you wear all the time - whether it’s your favorite pair of jeans or yak wool sweater (like me). These are the kinds of items you'll want to include in your minimalist wardrobe.

On the other hand, take a look at the clothes you don't wear very often. It might be time to donate those pieces since if you're not wearing them now, you probably won't wear them in the future.

Building a minimalist wardrobe can be a fun and fulfilling project! To get started, think about selecting pieces that are not only versatile but also breathable and comfy. You definitely want to feel good in what you're wearing!

To make your wardrobe more cohesive, choose colors that you love and already wear often. Incorporating these colors into your closet will help you create a more seamless look. If you're going for a minimalist wardrobe, consider focusing on neutral shades like brown, black, blue, and white. These colors can easily be mixed and matched with a variety of clothing items.

When it comes to purchasing new clothes, keep these 5 tips in mind:

  • Prioritize quality/durability: Look for high-quality pieces that are built to last. It might be tempting to go for the fast fashion option, but it's important to keep in mind that these pieces are often made with plastic-based materials and are designed to fall apart.
  • Check the materials: Be picky about the material of each clothing item you purchase. Avoid synthetic fabrics. They are not worth it; for you or the planet. Take a moment to read the tag before you buy.
  • Choose neutral colors: Subtle shades of brown, black, blue, and green are versatile choices that you can pair with almost anything. Investing in quality clothes in these neutral colors will give you options for many seasons to come.
  • Invest in your clothing: Take time to think about how you spend your money on clothes. By investing more money into quality pieces, you can enjoy them for many years to come and still look and feel good.
  • Include timeless basics: Certain items will never go out of style. Investing in these items not only saves money in the long run but also allows you to create endless outfit combinations that never go out of style. By incorporating these classic pieces into your wardrobe, you can always look effortlessly stylish and confident, regardless of the current trends.

An Oliver Charles crew neck sweater is the perfect staple for any time of year! To look and feel good, all you need to do is throw on a sweater with a pair of jeans.

Oliver Charles - Making It Effortless To Dress Comfortably And Professionally

Making It Effortless To Dress Comfortably And Professionally

Now that we've gone over what a minimalist wardrobe is and tips on building your own, I'm excited to share my 3 favorite sustainable outfits that I repeat throughout the week. My first outfit is great for everyday use. I can always run a quick errand like going to the grocery store or picking up my morning coffee without feeling overdressed.

My yak wool sweater gives my wardrobe the same flexibility as my work from home schedule.

If you’re pear-shaped like me, it’s important to tuck in your tops to help accentuate your curves. Some sweaters are too bulky to properly tuck in and make me appear bigger around my hips. That’s not the case with my Oliver Charles sweater!

My sweater is form fitting, especially around my waist and hip area! I was able to tuck it underneath my emerald green skirt effortlessly to accentuate my shape!

The yak wool fabric is so warm and insulating while also being thin enough to give me a sleek and professional look.

I Wear This Dressier Outfit For A Productive Work From Home Day

My next outfit is a bit more put together, but it's still so easy to just throw on.

Blazers always make me feel powerful and confident, but finding the right blouse to wear underneath can be a challenge. That's why I love pairing my blazers with Oliver Charles crew neck sweaters!

They pair effortlessly with my professional attire, including blazers, slacks, and A-line skirts. I love wearing this outfit when I meet my clients or coworkers on video call for the first time.

It’s important to make a good first impression, especially now that so many of us work remotely.

Oliver Charles - The Perfect Black Sweater For A Minimalist Wardrobe

The Perfect Black Sweater For A Minimalist Wardrobe

If you’re into minimalist clothing and love the color black, this final outfit idea is a must-have in your minimalist wardrobe!

Pair your charcoal Oliver Charles crew neck sweater with your favorite black skirts, pants, or slacks for an easy everyday work from home outfit.

If you’re going to upgrade anything in your closet, a classic black sweater is a great place to start.

My Oliver Charles sweater is my go-to staple in my minimalist wardrobe. It’s durable, sustainably made, and versatile enough to pair with all types of clothes in my closet.

Whether I’m working or doing a quick grocery run, I always feel confident and comfortable.
