After spending 30 days in the all-season waffle crew neck I am in love with this sweater. I have a tendency to be cold all of the time, even in the summer. I'm usually uncomfortable in air conditioned environments. I used to always carry a synthetic jacket or pullover with me and it would always stink after only 1 or 2 wears. I was a little skeptical about how long the all-season sweater could go without being washed. I have wool base layers that I could wear several times but usually not more than 3-4 times before they would develop an odor. I learned about the superwash process from an Oliver Charles article that most of the big companies use to process their wool and how it changes the natural properties of wool. I was shocked at how long I can wear this sweater without it developing an odor. I wore this sweater for 8-12 hours a day for 26 days straight before I washed it. Each night, it might have had a little odor but by morning it was gone after airing it out. This is a game changer for traveling! I firmly believe in packing light. Whether it's a 2 day trip or a 2 week trip this sweater will handle it all with ease without needing to be washed. The washing process was super simple in the washing machine. Washing the sweater with blue jeans as Oliver Charles recommended worked wonders for removing any pilling that had developed. Wearing the sweater for 30 days in a row definitely helped me to realize that I truly need less clothing. I have noticed recently that the quality of a lot clothing has gone down and looks old and worn within 6 months. I'm not a person who wears trendy clothing and I have realized that I am much better off investing in quality pieces that will last a really long time. I would recommend this sweater to anyone who wants to reduce the amount of clothing that they own or pack light on travels. The undyed color is fantastic. It is so easy to pair with different color bottoms. I am truly happy with my purchase and I can't wait to try the winter sweater when it gets colder.

When considering bringing a new piece into my small wardrobe, I typically read every review, research its versatility, longevity and sustainability. I tend to be very picky and have a high expectation for any piece of clothing I invest in. I was excited about the sustainability of Oliver Charles. both in their natural, innovative fibers, but also in their zero waste process. However, I was not sure how it would hold up to my mom-life, which is full of spills, sticky hands, sweaty momma, snuggles and varied life activities. I also care about pieces being lovely and timeless and easy to style in many ways. I wore my sweater for 7-days straight and found that it ticked all the boxes! It worked beautifully with various pants styles (from linen trousers and jeans to overalls), it was easy to spot clean and it remained smelling fresh through the whole week, it also held up to the varied activities and showed only very minor signs that I had been wearing it all week. I love my new sweater and is a perfect sweater for any low-impact capsule wardrobe.

I was traveling to, and within, Australia for two weeks, with stringent luggage-size and -weight restrictions, and knew I'd be in a wide range of climates (90* F in Darwin, down through Alice Springs, down to 40* overnight in Adelaide, and then a few days in Byron Bay). I needed a sweater I could wear on its own, or layer with other things, that I could use for the entire trip without worrying about dirt or smell, that could be dressed up or down depending on the context (out to a nice dinner, or sitting around a campfire).
I was skeptical that one sweater could actually do all that. But the waffle knit sweater came as close as anything possibly could. I couldn't realistically wear it in the 90* heat of Darwin, so I started the 7-day challenge after we left there. And it got really sandy/dusty when we were visiting Uluru, so I wound up washing it right after. And as it relaxed a bit, it fit a little more like an oversized sweater so it wasn't 100% perfect for a nice dinner out (though I think it would have been just fine if I had gotten the small - I was debating between the small and the medium and don't regret the medium, but if I had it to do over, I might go for the small after all). This is now definitely going to be my travel sweater. We traveled carry-on only, with (as I said) stringent weight limits, and it was actually so wonderfully freeing not to be schlepping tons of stuff around, and not to spend much (or actually any) time worrying about what I was going to wear on any given day.
Would definitely recommend an OC sweater to backpackers and other travelers! It's perfect for so many situations. Also SUPER comfortable (heck, I slept in mine!).

It’s been warm and cozy when the temps have been down in the 30’s, and breathable and comfortable when the temps have been in the 60’s. March in Wisconsin was definitely a good way to test just how all-seasons this sweater really is!
I did not wash it, and it still smells fresh. It has relaxed a little, but not so much that it looks sloppy after 7 days. There is some pilling, as to be expected, but not as much as I would have expected, considering I’ve been wearing it all day for 7 days.
Final thoughts: I love the color and waffle knit texture. The sweater is beautiful and basic on its own, but also a blank canvas for accessories. Even with the texture, dog hair didn’t stick to it very much, which surprised me. It definitely kept me comfortable in both cold and warmer temperatures. I can easily see myself wearing it from below zero temperatures up to the 70’s. I love that it doesn’t retain odors and I could wear it 7 days in a row without worrying about smelling funny. While I measured at the top end of a medium on the size chart, I think I could have also sized down and been comfortable. The arms are a little longer than I prefer, but at only 5’4”, sleeves are usually long on me. I think this would work really well for taller individuals who don’t always have the length they want.
I really appreciate the opportunity to be a field tester! This sweater really does it all! I’ll be recommending it to my friends who need a do-it-all sweater, and especially anyone with sensory concerns.

The Khullu Merino is a great number: it is certainly warm but not stifling. It is lightweight so you don't imagine it is as warm as it is. That is not to say it is too warm for a heated room, but perfect if you want to go out in 50 degree weather with just a sweater and a turtleneck. It can be dressed up or down, according to how you want to look. Blue is a great color for adding scarves and other details. I haven't tried it with a skirt, but then again I don't wear too many of them. Although I know a lot of your models are not retired folk, older people like myself can wear these sweaters with flare. I intend to take the Khullu to the mountains of Kyrgyzstan where I work as an archaeologist every summer. It is cool up there sometimes and this will be a lightweight warm sweater which will be good in higher altitudes and when the weather is a bit chilly.

I wore the All-Season Waffle Knit Sweater for one week straight. I started the challenge not knowing if the sweater would be comfortable enough to wear daily in different situations. I wondered if it would truly not absorb odors. It definitely was soft, non-itchy, and very comfortable. It did not absorb odors according to my husband and myself. That will make it excellent for travel. I wore the sweater hiking in 50 to low 60 degrees and was comfortable even in full sun. Wearing the sweater every day convinced me I can wear it in almost any situation. It will be comfortable on my upcoming 14 hour flight. The color of the sweater is great. the quality of yarn and the construction are superb. I highly recommend this sweater.

I REALLY wanted to love this sweater. I love the company ethos, the #repeat movement, the fact that the cashmere and cotton I wear exclusively are much less sustainable, etc. etc. but it's already pill-ly. I read the booklet that came with it which says if it's pill-ly to throw it in the washing machine with denim. I love the shade of navy, I like the feel, I love the sustainable aspect, I could see wearing this sweater all the time but I'm not going to wear something that's pill-ly :(

One of the most important factors that affects the way wool feels is the fiber fineness. Thinner diameter fiber is softer. While a human hair has a average diameter of 75 microns (µm), the yak wool (AKA "khullu") we use in our sweaters is ultra-fine at 17.5µm.
Wools that are generally considered "soft" have a fineness <20µm. Although, at the end of the day, you know best, so try new materials at different levels of fineness and decide what you like wearing most. If you find a wool sweater you love but find slightly itchy, note that fine wools, like khullu, get softer with washing.
Wicking is an important benefit of wool, because in order to regulate body temperature, humans can sweat several liters a day. All this sweat can get pretty smelly right? In fact, sweat only becomes odor if it isn't wicked away. Wool has a number of unique moisture management properties that allow it to resist body odor making it ideal for #repeat wear and simplifying your life.
1) Saturation regain: wool can absorb and retain up to 35% of its own weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch, which reduces sweat buildup and discourages bacterial growth.
2) Isolation of bacteria: after sweat is absorbed from the skin's surface it travels outwards where it evaporates. In the process, wool actively binds and isolates bacteria within it's fiber. The isolation of bacteria reduces odor to the point where unwashed wool has 66% less odor intensity than plastic-based fibers and 28% less than cotton fabrics (Woolmark).
Fun fact: bacteria thrive in humid environments, where sweat is trapped instead of being wicked away. For example, while a 1x1cm area on a human forearm contains around 100 bacteria, an identical square in the armpit contains on average 10 million bacteria (Popular Science).
We make our sweaters from yak down, which is the hair they shed naturally in the spring, all the herders do to collect it is simply brush the animals.
Our sweaters are made in Brooklyn, New York by Tailored Industry. We work with them to create our sweaters through a new manufacturing process called WHOLEGARMENT® 3D-knitting.
We chose Tailored Industry vs. other WHOLEGARMENT® manufacturers in part because of their brand vision. They want to become a platform for on-demand knitwear. We're hoping we can grow together, create all kinds of custom sizes, and eventually remove the need for inventory completely.
Pilling is the natural process that occurs when the shorter natural wool fibers work their way to the surface of a sweater.
Pilling is normal and expected with any wool piece of clothing, but fear not because there is a tried and true method to manage pilling.
The first thing you should do is wash your sweater after the first 4 wears. Throw your sweater in the wash with a pair of jeans, just make sure to close the zippers.
Over time, shorter fibers causing pilling will pull away on their own.
Many of our sweaters, including Summer Sweaters and All-Season Sweaters, are machine washable. However, we recommend checking the care instructions for each style to be certain. For 100% yak wool sweaters, we suggest hand washing and laying them flat to dry.

Our StoryOrder a sweater and we'll tell you.
The All Season Waffle Knit (undyed) is an amazing, versatile sweater! My initial concerns were that it would be too warm or too itchy for daily wear - in particular, because I have MS and skin sensitivity is a major issue. The sweater proved to be incredibly soft and temperature regulating, and the week I wore it was one of the few times I haven't been freezing cold in my home office! It was actually a delight to wear it 7 days straight because it dressed up and down nicely, through both day and night functions. The cherry on top - I received a lot of compliments about the sweater itself. I am definitely going to buy another All Season Waffle Knit in another color!

I was excited about the sustainability of Oliver Charles. both in their natural, innovative fibers, but also in their zero waste process.

I frequently have issues with fit and comfort but with this sweater its fit was so comfortable, I'd forget I had it on.

Great all around sweater! Soft and durable, I really liked the fit and style of the waffle knit as it can go from office to outdoors without pause. Add to that the quality and sustainably and you have a wonderful wardrobe staple for years to come.
